Ardbeg Uigeadail

This one’s a wee beauty, I picked this up recently from the boys at Fine Vintage, it’s said that Uigeadail derives from the Scotch Gaelic for 'Dark and Mysterious Place' and is named from the Loch from where Ardbeg draws its water.
It has been bestowed a few awards, Jim Murray bible has given it two, one being 2009 World Whisky of the Year and the other being 2014 Liquid Gold Award. So here we go.

What…
Ardbeg Uigeadail

Location…
ISLAY

Where…
Home.

Why…
Sitin at home without anything to do, a little bored and the bottle was staring at me, pleading to be opened.

Tasting…

Nose: Blowout peat locked with iodine, hospital wards, rum tipsy cake when you open the packet at first, caramel and oceans, then a wee drap o water, magical notes of peat and boiling demerara sugar.

Taste: It gets better on the palate, like a flash flood of peat, rushing in, a slight sting of medicine then calm and a creamy vanilla, sherried sultanas and golden syrup.

Finish: Sweetness receding and highlighting the iodine and oak, then a lingering peaty caramel and demerara sugar.

Comments..... Well just when you thought it could not get any better you get this, WOW that’s it in a nutshell WOW. This is a must have in anyone’s cabinet.

Get it…
From the boys at Fine Vintage in Hong Kong or Duty Free.
