UK: Scotch Whisky Association targets alcohol abuse with US$820,000 fund launch

THE Scotch whisky industry is setting up a £500,000 fund to support projects aimed at reducing alcohol misuse.

The five-year investment from the Scotch Whisky Association will see £100,000 invested each year in individual charities and organizations which work to reduce alcohol-related harm in communities. It will target initiatives tackling alcohol problems among young people as well as families affected by excessive drinking, after research revealed more funding was required for such projects.
The fund will be managed by Foundation Scotland.
